Privacy Policy
Verboten has no account, no sign-in, and no analytics. It collects nothing about you and sends nothing about you anywhere. This page explains exactly what that means — including the one thing the app does fetch.
What stays on your phone
Everything. The apps you chose to block, your schedules, your pause and “more time” settings, the count of times a block held, and your appearance preference are stored on the device and nowhere else. There is no server holding an account for you, because there is no account.
Which apps you blocked
On iOS, your selection is made through Apple's own Screen Time picker. iOS hands the app an opaque token for each choice — the app cannot read which apps you picked, and neither can we. Those tokens never leave the device.
On Android, blocking works through an accessibility service that sees the name of the app currently in the foreground so it can decide whether to close it. That check happens entirely on the device, in the moment, and is never recorded, transmitted, or retained.
The news bulletin
If you leave today's news switched on, the app asks our server (work-done-api.onrender.com) for the current bulletin. The request carries no account, no identifier, and nothing about you or your phone — it asks for the bulletin, and the same bulletin is served to everyone. Like any request over the internet it includes your IP address, which our hosting provider processes in order to send the response back; we do not use it to build a profile and we do not link it to anything.
If our server is unreachable, the app fetches the same headlines directly from the newsrooms' public RSS feeds. You can turn the bulletin off in Settings, after which the app makes no content requests at all.
App updates
The app checks for over-the-air updates through Expo (u.expo.dev), which tells it whether a newer version of the app's code is available. This request identifies the app and its version, not you.
What we do not do
- No analytics, and no advertising.
- No trackers, and no third-party SDKs that profile you.
- No crash reporting that carries your data.
- No sale or sharing of personal information — there is none to sell.
We cannot see your blocked list, your schedules, or how often you opened anything, because none of it is sent to us.
Purchases
If in-app purchases are offered, they are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
Children
Verboten isn't directed to children under the age required by your local law for online services.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
